California Cannabis Compliance, Ready for Inspection Day
DCC rules change every month, and inspectors don’t always call ahead. We handle your METRC reporting, staff training and inspection prep so a surprise visit ends in a clean report.
What We Handle
Everything the DCC Expects, Covered
Inspections
An advocate on site when an inspector arrives, announced or not. We find the issues before they do.
Reporting
METRC, state and local reports filed on time, in whatever format the agency wants this month.
Agencies
We manage the relationship with every agency and agent, so your site’s reputation arrives before they do.
Training
Under pressure, crews do what they were trained to do. We close the gaps and drill your SOPs first.
Regulations
MAUCRSA, the DCC rules and your local code, read together — and proposed changes flagged while you can still comment.
Inspections
Inspection Day, Without the Scramble
An inspection can end in a clean report, thousands in fines, or an administrative hold. We work with inspectors, not against them — years of working alongside them tell us what they’ll look for before they arrive.
- Walk-through against DCC rules before any visit
- METRC reconciled to what’s physically on site
- SOPs current, staff trained on them
- An advocate present during the inspection
If an inspector shows up unannounced, your binder is already done.

Who Regulates a California Cannabis Business
Every layer wants something different. We track all of them, so you only deal with us.
| Agency | What they oversee |
|---|---|
| Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) | State licenses, inspections, and METRC track-and-trace |
| County and city | Local permits, zoning, and local inspections |
| County Treasurer-Tax Collector | Local cannabis business tax |
| State Water Resources Control Board | Cultivation water rights and discharge |
| Department of Fish and Wildlife | Lake and streambed alteration agreements |
| CDTFA | Cannabis excise and sales tax |
California Compliance Questions
Can the DCC inspect without notice?
Yes. Inspections can happen at any time during operating hours, announced or not. The safest assumption is that today is inspection day.
Why not keep a compliance person in-house?
Reading the rules is a third of the job. The rest is knowing how regulators will interpret them, and which changes are coming. We talk to multiple agencies every day, so we hear both first. Run the numbers.
What do you need from us to start?
Your license numbers, and access to METRC: your METRC API key, our staff added to your organization in METRC, or ideally both. The free audit tells you where you stand before you commit to anything.
Which parts of California do you cover?
Statewide, from our Santa Barbara office and a Northern California satellite.
What California Operators Say
We were able to 5x the weight we were able to harvest and manifest in a day. The system lets the farm team choose what sections to harvest on the fly, so we’re able to adjust according to customer needs.
Using the Bay Kinetic system allowed us to harvest seven acres in six days. Hands down the smoothest harvest we’ve ever run.
Ready for Your Next Inspection?
We’ll review your METRC data, SOPs and licenses, and tell you what an inspector would find.
